The Making of a Couture Website Design & Development Boutique.
In 2001, heavily inspired by both technology and fashion, co-owners Reuben and Sherri Johnson, known also to many simply as the FlyDuo, set out to redefine the concept of what a web design studio could be. This unique company fully embraces the philosophies of a casual luxury lifestyle brand, and as a result has quickly become a symbol of style, sophistication, quality craftsmanship and dedication, clearly influenced by the worlds of fashion and print ...thus the Couture Website Design & Development Boutique Fly Media Productions was born!
At Fly Media Productions "the design vibe is cool, creative, and visually striking" (as their clients will boast!). The duo and their clients alike will agree, it's the company's unique approach to the industry, their passion for client success, and their ability to ensure a client's small business the opportunity to shine, that has allowed them the ability to differentiate themselves from other equally talented design firms.
Creating an environment in which their predominately female clientele' feel empowered as true collaborators is also a key component in the success of the Fly Media Productions brand. This collaboration is important to the women choosing to partner with the metro Atlanta boutique, because more often than not they themselves are Sophisticated, Decidedly Fashionable, and Daringly Different in their own right. And like the unique duo themselves, they too realize that in business, as in fashion, a first impression when done well ...leaves a lasting one!
About The FlyDuo
aka, Reuben & Sherri.
When it comes to the company we are "the team" aka the FlyDuo. Officially, our roles are as follows: Reuben is the CEO, and Lead Developer, and Sherri fills the position of Cheif Creative Officer - in a nutshell. But in reality we are two very unique individuals in our own right that function exceptionally well as a singular entity – both personally and professionally.
Married for over seventeen years and in business together for over ten, the world quite literally knows us as either "Reuben and Sherri" or the "FlyDuo" ...Google it! (No seriously, Google it!)
We are kind of inseparable. If you haven't noticed it already, I promise you you will. Whether you call, email, or meet one of us in person you can expect that the other isn't too far away - we are a team in every sense of the word.
Starting a business on our own with no real web experience it took us a minute to find our groove and to truly learn our roles, but we got there. And when we did, magic happened. We realized it's okay that one of us is more of a talker and the other not so much. That it's okay that one of us loves to chat it up online and the other not so much (and it's not the talker!). That it's okay if individually we could never create what we can create together. And that each of these things could actually be considered assets to our small business if we just looked at them in a different light.
Ever heard the lyrics, "It takes two to make a thing go right?" When it comes to Fly Media Productions there is no truer statement. Sherri was born to design – to make the world a prettier place. She's been doing it in all aspects of her life since she was a small girl choosing to spend her allowance on nicknacks to decorate the top of a dresser she could barely reach. ...Designing for the web was a logical step in her progression.
Reuben too is exceptional at what he does. You've got to love what you do to stare at code for 8+ hours a day and still be excited about what you're doing. We hate to say that either one of us has a larger role in the success of our business, but to Sherri he is the heart that brings her life to work. "He is a designers dream." you'll often hear her remark. "His work is pixel perfect. I love the fact that I can design to my heart's content and that he can quite literally take my work and bring it to life!"
